World cup of Cars

So i was reading this article about football players and their cars. I must begin this blog with ” I am not the jealous type”.
You can pretty much do what you want to me and I OK with it nothing much bothers me. Well thats true in most respects, but all my credence goes out the window when it comes to cars. Yes I am jealous when I see a nice BMW M3 or a new Audi TT and don’t even mention a Porsche Cayenne Turbo or 911 or a Ferrari. Why cant I have one I ask myself? Oh wait I dont have the cash and it would take me years to save up for one of these beauties

You can read about all the footballers cars here

http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/world-cup-stars-cars-20100702-ztmi.html

unless that is you are like me and the green eyed monster surfaces in an instance; don’t bother reading it , it’ll just make you jealous.

Ford Falcon turns 50, OMG thats old

Interesting to read the Falcon turns 50 years old. Actually its pretty boring, I dont know how it survived 50 years. Is it me or are its ugly as. Give me the Mini Cooper or Volkswagen Golf anytime, but hey thats just my opinion. I suppose if you have a ‘large’ family then its better having a big fuel guzzler than a Toyota Prius.

Alternatively people should have less kids so no need for big cars. What do you think?

World Cup of Driving

How good is watching the world cup I guess the only thing better would be to be there cheering on the Aussies.I think there should be a World Cup for safe driving. In Australia’s case this means we’d be losing our drivers license for parking in a bus zone. ( I am trying hard here for parallels people!!). All the countries would need to compete in a city and drive around in normal conditions. You know screaming babies in the back seat, driving with a dodgy mirror or that pesky tire that just wont inflate to the correct tire pressure.
Each country would get assignments like drop the kids of at school, pick up the dry-cleaning, pick up the grandparents and so on and on.
I would like to see who the winners would be. The judges would be smash repair shops, the country with the least dings and scratches would be crowned Winner.

Where is the best place to Drive?

SO,we have all been in this position stuck in traffic or just driving around doing mundane tasks; whilst secretly wishing we could be on our favourite Freeway or driving on a deserted road ( of course obeying the speed limits). I always imagine myself somewhere in Northern Territory. Its quiet and there isn’t much traffic around.

My question is where is your most favourite destination to drive to? I love driving around in Kakadu its one of the most beautiful places in the world. You can really get lost there so make sure you take plenty of water with you and tell everyone where you going. Other than that I guess a drive up the east coast all the way to Cairns and Cape Tribulation is also in my top 5 places to drive to.

In Victoria the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to Adelaide is very nice and scenic. I love the little towns and of course seeing Bells beach in Tourqay. I guess we are pretty lucky in Australia we can just keep on driving around and around.
With around 7.6Million squared kilometers at our disposal we are lucky indeed.

Gift Card Winners

We are pleased to upload pics of the winners of the gift card competition who participated in the SKYDS program in Nowra held last week

SKYDS Program

Today we had a nice drive to NOWRA to have a look at In Skilled or be Killed Program. It was extremely interesting and all the presenters were top notch.

I highly recommend all schools to set up a similar program in their schools. We gave away  driving school gift-cards to lucky winners and met all the Year 10 students.

It makes you realise that as one of the presenters pointed out  in todays lecture about driver attitude and behavior Driving is a Privilege not a Right”.

Yet a lot of us abuse this privilege and the results often ends in tragedies.

Wet Weather Driving

Boy its been raining, it seems like the rain wont stop. Its kinda like a scene from ‘Misery’ with Kathy Bates but anyway I wont go on, you all get the point.

I had to drive today in the wet,wow people drive really fast. You must know your car really well to drive in the wet. Its best to make  sure your tyres and brake system are 100%.  A good principle is to reduce your speed by 10km/hr in the wet. There is no need to drive to the recommended speed limit. That limit refers to ideal traffic conditions, which I can assure you did not exist today.  So Please people reduce your speed in the wet. Having an accident is no fun. Just ask my friend Lucy she was waiting for the light to change at the intersection when a car behind her, with  sqreetching brakes rammed into her. That will spoil your day and in her case  she didn’t have a car for a week!!!!

Who got their Ipad today?

I have been waiting forever it seems for my Ipad, I lined up at 6am, it was freezing today but I am proud to report I am writing this on my brand new sparking Ipzd I mean  Ipad ,typing is a bit trickier than I thought. Although the keyboard is Huge I am so impressed with it, its like a massive Iphone. I got a 3G card its pretty fast getting on the web is so easy. The apps wow………. so many apps of course.

Anyway I thought about it today, what can I think about Ipad and drivingschool pages. I guess the colours are real nice and its really fast to load up. The ibooks app is great I love the Winnie the pooh app so cute. You could download all sort of driving games and simulators as well Real racing is my favourite  http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id363998989?mt=8

I guess its a Friday post, you know it looks like i have done  work on  it,  but really I have been playing on my new toy the whole day. I cant wait to watch movies tonight on my Ipad. My message for the weekend: Enjoy yourselves, but be careful on the roads. That means obey all the laws and if you go out and drink with friends make sure you catch a cab or public transport on the way home.

See you guys bright and early on Monday. Uhmmm  How does 10am sound?……………………………

Which Car to choose

So, You got your license, Congratulations!!

You saved up by working at Coles,K-Mart…… perhaps your folks helped out. So I hear you say Which car should I buy anonymous blog dude?

Well you can have a look at this great website, it ranks all cars according to crash-test http://www.howsafeisyourcar.com.au/

You can also check out http://www.crashtestdummies.com.au/events.php  If I was them I would want all cars to be 5/5.  Oh wait I am them . Infact all of us  are crash test dummies, since in an accident our bodies behave exactly like them.

I think the car to choose is one (drumroll….) , Well you knew I was going to say the   safest even before I wrote it. At the expense of looking boring,it is funny logic where you see old people driving sports cars and young people driving big old cars. The common denominator here is money. Yes we all want more of it, but when choosing cars and being young, we should be looking at safety. The statistics which we all know speak for themselves ,drivers under the age of 20 are way over-represented in crash statistics. Therefore it pays to spend a little more to get things like air-bags, side-airbags and more importantly Electronic Stability Control. You can see a video which shows the difference between ESC an no ESC.  http://www.howsafeisyourcar.com.au/electronic_stability_control.php

So whatever your budget is make sure you choose air-bags over engine size, because you  only have one head and I am pretty sure you want to protect it. As you get older  you will get the opportunity  to  choose a car which has all the features you want, however  by making a poor choice now you may never get that chance.

“The Ring” Returns well kinda of !!!!

To anyone who is familiar with the book/movie the Ring you will remember the story. You know if you watch a certain show on TV you will die in a week. Well it seems that in Bulgaria a certain  mobile number has been doing its part in promoting the legend of the ring albeit in the current telco version. If you are unlucky to have a mobile number which is 0888 888 888, I’d consider buying life insurance. The previous owners died of cancer, and the others who “had” this number were executed by the mob. I guess it does happen if you are part of the mafia to begin with but thats another story. To all our fans please dont get a new mobile with this number 0888 888 888, even if it is an Iphone. Actually I will volunteer to be a lab rat, If anyone has an Iphone 4G, (come on people! I am taking a big risk here, the least you could do is to give me the best phone for what could very well be my last days here on earth) please give it to me for a month or two or however long I’ve got. ( I am hoping at least 2  months, that way I could roll-over my credits to next month, not that I would have left  any since I’d be on the phone like 24/7.

You can check out the link at http://www.news.com.au/technology/spooked-phone-bosses-in-bulgaria-suspend-number-after-everyone-who-owns-it-dies/story-e6frfro0-1225871340842.

So the moral of the story is : If you do have mobile phone  dont talk and drive as you could very well end up like the owners of 0888 888 88. That is no joke!

How good is facebook. Seriously

Yes, I know it has nothing to do with driving safety, but hey I am sure the boss wont read every blog ( fingers crossed)

I just thought of it , I mean you see and chat  with all your friends and their friends and their friends and so on …………… Sure you hear all the problems with privacy and people doing all sorts of crazy and silly things. I say if you are silly enough to put your info like Date of Birth, Addresses, crazy pics….. You might as well just send an email to your local thief and tell him when you going away for holidays. With my Iphone I can get on Facebook 24/7 and get updates straight away if any of my friends writes on my  wall or when my lost long friends want to add me to be their friends facebook. You can search on facebook for deals, discounts on shopping, promotions the list is endless.

Seriously if I could I’d be on facebook like 10 hours a day or at least 9-5. That would be the best job in the world. I could call myself a ‘face/book’ consultant. If anyone out there can help me get a job like that I will add you as my friend, hang on I will tell all my friends to add you as well. please………

Oh yes must remember to mention driving in this blog. Well if you get your P’s you can hang with you friends a lot more plus, its kinda nice to be away from home for a couple of hours. But when you do get home after a night out you can always check out  facebook….
